Certains évêques aussi au jour de leur ordination. L’Évangile du lavement des pieds, c’est en fait celui des soignants! Mais il ne suffit pas de s’agenouiller. L’attention prime ! Chaque patient, chaque membre abîmé est aussi une invitation à accueillir la vulnérabilité de chacun et de voir là mon prochain. Qui de nous est à l'aise quand il est l'objet de l'humble service d'un de ces proches, ou même d'un inconnu ? Alors, ne pouvons-nous pas nous dire que nous lui offrons cette joie du service quand nous étendons nos pieds pour qu'il les lave. J’entends bien que cette attitude pourrait être mal comprise et finalement subvertie et retournée en une forme de domination sur le serviteur. Un tel risque est effectivement toujours présent.
