Dézoriental, un nom qui évoque bien sûr l’orient mais un orient marqué par des influences diverses. L’orchestre en présente un patchwork, l’orient évidemment mais aussi la musique tsigane, le blues, le musette… Le groupe séduit par sa fougue et son énergie sur scène. Dézoriental donnera plus de 400 concerts. Leur ambition, développer un théâtre musical qui traverse les âges, les cultures, les traditions et les genres, un théâtre d’ouverture et de décloisonnement. C’est en 2014 qu’Abdel Sefsaf écrit son premier texte de théâtre « Medina Mérika, une libre adaptation d’un texte du romancier turc Orhan Pamuk « Mon nom est rouge ». « Medina Mérika » reçoit en 2018 le prix du jury Momix, festival international de création pour la jeunesse. Peu à peu, Abdel Sefsaf ressent l’envie d’évoquer sa vie et celle de sa famille. Dans « Si loin, si Proche, c’est sa mère qui tient la première place. Dans « Ulysse de Taourirt, c’est son père, Algérien arrivé en France en 1948, qui occupe le devant de la scène. Des évocations pleines d’humour et de tendresse. Ces deux pièces ont reçu et reçoivent un accueil chaleureux du public. La prochaine création d’Abdel Sefsaf s’intitule « Kaldûn » et raconte la déportation des Algériens et des communards en Nouvelle-Calédonie. Un projet pour lequel il collabore avec un ensemble musical bien connu des Ligériens, Canticum Novum.
