La Syrie avec depuis dix ans maintenant, la guerre et ses suites et le Liban qui s'enfonce de plus en plus dans une crise économique notamment. D'abord en Syrie, puisque c'était à Alep que le secours aux Arméniens, réfugiés rescapés du génocide, avait démarré et que le premier centre de la CO de l'action créé en Orient avait été fondé. Ensuite les engagements, la mission s'est étendue au Liban, après la Deuxième Guerre mondiale, puis dans les années 50-60 en Iran. On a aussi d'autres actions en Arménie, en Egypte. Mais, le cœur historique, ce sont ces trois pays : Iran, Syrie, Liban. Et les délégués viennent essentiellement de ces pays-là. Pour cette grande rencontre, on veut se positionner ou s'intéresser à ce qui se passe aujourd'hui et à l'avenir. Il y a une reconnaissance officielle pour une partie des églises qui sont reconnues comme ethnies, avec leurs propres lois et coutumes qui sont encadrées et surveillées. Mais il y a aussi toute une partie du christianisme qui n'est pas reconnue et qui est persécutée. Beaucoup d'Iraniens deviennent chrétiens de manière clandestine, notamment protestants évangéliques. Et nous, on est particulièrement en relation avec les quelques rares Églises protestantes de tradition réformée et presbytérienne, qui ont encore le droit d'exister mais qui sont vraiment sous pression. C'est un exploit d'avoir les visas. Les gens devraient arriver vendredi, mais nous ne sommes pas sûrs. Nous allons voir si tout le monde arrive bien. C'est tout un défi, mais c'est une joie aussi de se retrouver aussi après ces années de pandémie.
